✔️ Notarization Checklist

Before your appointment, please make sure you have the following:

1️⃣ Valid Government-Issued ID

The signer must present a current, valid ID, such as:

  • Driver’s License

  • State ID Card

  • U.S. Passport

  • Foreign Passport (with proper identification requirements)

⚠️ Expired IDs usually cannot be accepted.

2️⃣ Complete Document

  • The document should be fully filled out.

  • Do not sign the document beforehand unless instructed.

  • The notary must witness the signature.

3️⃣ All Signers Present

  • Everyone whose signature needs notarization must be present in person.

  • Each signer must bring their own valid ID.

4️⃣ Notarial Certificate

Check that the document contains a notary section, such as:

  • Acknowledgment

  • Jurat

  • Signature verification

If the document does not include a notarial certificate, the notary may attach the correct one.

5️⃣ Payment for Notary Services

Have the notary fee and travel fee ready if applicable.

Typical mobile notary services include:

  • Notarization fee per signature

  • Travel fee

  • After-hours/weekend fee (if applicable)

6️⃣ Witnesses (If Required)

Some documents require witnesses (e.g., certain estate documents).

  • Confirm if witnesses are required.

  • Bring witnesses with valid ID, or request the notary to provide them if available.

7️⃣ Signer Must Be Willing and Aware

The signer must:

  • Understand the document

  • Be signing voluntarily

  • Be mentally aware

The notary cannot notarize if the signer appears under pressure or incapable.
